INTRODUCTION:-
Ø Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is the main source of sugar in India
and occupies a prominent position as a cash crop.
Ø India is the world's largest consumer and second largest producer of sugar,
with only Brazil at the top.
Ø About 2.8 lakh farmers are cultivating sugarcane in a vast area of 4.4 lakh acres and more than 11
crore people in the country are directly or indirectly dependent on sugar
industry.
Ø Sugarcane is one of the important commercial crops of India, which is 3.9.
is grown in the area.
Ø A mature stalk is typically composed of 11–16% fiber, 12–16% soluble
sugars, 2–3% non sugar carbohydrates, and 63–73% water.
Ø Some useful benefits of sugarcane: - Increase immunity, help in improving
digestion, help in reducing fever, good in pregnancy, useful in diabetes.
