INTRODUCTION:-
Ø Pea is a popular pulse crop of India.
Ø Peas are a good source of vitamins C and E, zinc and other antioxidants
that strengthen the body's immune system.
Ø Other nutrients, such as vitamins A and B and coullestrol, help reduce inflammation
and the risk of chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease and
arthritis.
Ø Peas are grown under immature conditions to provide a savory dish or for
canned or later use.
Peas are commonly grown for the dry seeds that are used
for a variety of snacks as well as lentils.
Ø Ripe seeds are high in nutrition, containing 22.5% protein, 62.1% CHO,
1.8%, fat, minerals (calcium, iron) and vitamins (riboflavin, thiamine)
Ø Being a legume crop, it has the ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen (30-40
kg/ha).
Ø Peas can be used as cattle feed.
