Field Preparation & Irrigation

Preparation of Field

Plough the land to a fine tilth and form ridges and furrows at 30 cm spacing or beds of convenient sizes. Cloves are planted at 15 x 10 cm spacing.

Irrigation

Irrigate before and after planting; life irrigation is given on third day of planting and at weekly intervals of time.

Fertilizer Requirement(Per Hectare)

After planting Weeding should be done on 30^th  and 60^th day after planting.

Thrips

ü  Neem Extract Azadirachtin 1000 EC 1.7 ml/lit of water

ü  Bell (Fipronil 5 % SC) 2-5 ml/lit of water

ü  Spray KARGIL (Imidachloprid 30.5 % SC) 1.6 ml/Litre of Water

ü  Diafenthiuron  50 % WP 8 g/10 lit

ü  Phenthoate  50 % EC 5 ml/10 lit.

ü  Quinalphos 25 % EC 12 ml/10 lit

Nematode

§  Nematode

ü  Soil Application with Nematicide (Neem + Karanj Extract) at 1200 ml/Ha

ü  Neem Cake ,  1 Tn/Ha at planting to control root knot nematode, Meloidogyne spp.

ü  Fumigation under polythene cover for 2-3 days using following-

·         Methyl Bromide (500 g/10 m²)

·         Ethylene-di-bromide (20 lit/ha)

·         Durofume (30 lit/ha) 

Clove Rot

ü  Before planting treat the cloves with DEFENSE (Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63% WP) 2g/ litre

of water

Harvest & Yield

Harvest  Turning of tops to yellowish or brownish colour and starts drying is the ideal harvest index for harvesting garlic.
